Nestled within the heart of the Hertfordshire Countryside,

beside the gently babbling River Ash, sits Toad Abode;

a small, but beautiful campsite, perfect for those searching for a peaceful get away.

If you are looking for an almost wild, back to basics camping stay,

we have four grass and one hard standing pitch available within our main grassy paddock.

In a secluded spot within our second paddock, you'll find Natterjack's Nook,

a separate, grassy pitch, with its own fire pit and swing seat.

Ideal if you require a little more solitude while you sit and watch the sun set over the river.

What we mean by almost wild camping is that our site has minimal,

rustic facilities, intended to be sympathetic to our surroundings.

You'll find no electric hook-ups or showers here.

 

What you will find are:

Solar powered, motion sensor lighting and USB charging points.

A composting toilet located in the second paddock near to Robin's Reception.

A cold, fresh, drinking water tap located in the second paddock,

along the fence line behind the greenhouse.

 

If you are wanting to cook up something delicious,

fire pits are available to hire for £6 for the duration of your stay

and grills are available to borrow from Robin's Reception.

Instant barbecues are also available to purchase for £3 each*.

*Must be used on top of one of our grills to protect the grass.

Bags of logs with some kindling and fire lighters can be purchased for £9 per bag.

Guests are welcome to bring their own

raised fire pits and barbecues for £5.

This charge is to cover the costs of insurance, maintenance of the grass,

and the bucket of sand we will provide.

Our pitches are spacious, allowing for one large or two small tents per grass pitch,

and one campervan or roof tent, plus awning on the hard standing pitch.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept caravans at this time.

Each pitch has a maximum occupancy of four people

and are charged per person, per night.

Children aged under 2 years stay for free.

No tent? No problem!

We have a shepherd hut and pre-pitched 5 meter bell tent available for hire.

Toad's Hut sleeps two, in a convertible double bed,

and Badger's Bell sleeps two in a double bed, 

and two in single beds for an additional fee.

Well behaved four-legged friends are welcome for a small fee of £3 per dog per night.

Due to livestock in neighbouring fields, we request dogs are kept on lead.

We regret, they are not permitted in Badger's Bell or Toad's Hut.
